Hi Runners,
We are once again at the end of another action-packed month.
For some, it might have been more of a “getting-through-winter” time, and for others, a time to get back to running. It doesn’t matter how you chose to spend July, what matters is that it we are now well into the second half of the year and on the South African running calendar, that means trails, cross country, and Cape Town marathon.
Try any of our marathon programs if you haven’t started your training already, and remember that you can ask questions anytime on the runners forum.

Road Running News:
We love watching fun times and fast times too!! The absa Run Your City 10km in Durban produced both and we look forward to watching runners take on the next leg of the series: Tshwane 10km on 24 August 2025. All the best to everyone running. It is always a good idea to have a set goal to get through the winter training. The Hollywoodbets 10km is another great option for KZN-based runners. And if neither of these races suit your schedule, there are lots to choose from on https://ownmyrun.com/find-a-race-incl-checklists/ .
Cape Town marathon entries sold out earlier this year and the organizers are delighted about it as it brings them one step closer to obtaining the World Marathon Majors’ stamp of approval.
Entries for the 2025 Soweto Marathon have not opened yet, and that is a result of the turmoil that the race is currently in. We truly hope that the organizers will somehow find a way for the 2025 race to go ahead, but currently it is in question. Last year, entries opened early July, after the official race launch on 4July 2024. It would be a real miss on the SA running calendar if this year’s race fails to take place. Time will tell, but it might not be the worst idea to start looking for alternative races in case you are planning to run Soweto Marathon this year.
